Have you ever come across Cal Newport's work? His new framework 'slow productivity' really resonates with me. This episode with Tim Ferris is great, gets more relevant from ~40 mins (cleary i've shared this with lots of people if I know the timestamp haha https://tim.blog/2022/02/02/cal-newport/)
I haven't but from the title of the podcast, I think I'll really enjoy his work - I always struggle with striking a balance between being productive vs being sustainable as well, so I'll have a listen to this podcast this week! Thanks for the recommend. :)
Hope you like it! I remember reading this too about sustainable productivity… holding ambition, responsibility and our care of the work a little more loosely.
Mark, I just listened to the podcast you sent me and I was excited the whole time because I resonated a lot with how Cal plans his life: using values and trying to create a system to make sure he’s working towards longer term goals and values. It’s inspired a few other blog posts I’m hoping to write.
Thanks for sharing! His podcast will now be part of my regular rotation.
So glad you liked it! I actually went back and had a listen myself after I shared it with you, and found new golden nuggets in there again! His riffs on 'full capture' to reduce the number of 'open loops' in his mind, given the firehose of info we experience in our roles and lives, has been so helpful! I've been dedicating time to closing all loops daily and notice i'm way more present in the arvo/evening with my family, and am sleeping better too! Win! Also liked the idea of capturing ideas in the moment and adding them as a card in Trello, to come back to later. I'm finding that act of 'capture' assures my brain it can move on from that idea, and get back to deep work/connection etc. LMK if you come across anything interesting as you ilsten to his pod!
Please remember to give mention to bouldering and squash hehe I really enjoyed reading this!
I don't think I've earnt the right yet for those - but soon!! Once I conquer the pinks. Thanks MH!
Love this, very excited to follow your journey. ❤️❤️
Aw thanks Kory!! 💖
You can have everything solved by Malatang, if not, have another one.
Malatang does solve a lot of things in life!
